Xiaomi has officially unveiled the 12T and 12T Pro with the latter packing one of the first 200MP camera setups on a flagship smartphone along with other impressive hardware.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro is a follow-up to the impressive 12 Pro released earlier this year but with a few tweaks to help keep some costs down. As the latest Xiaomi phone, it is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Combined with the more modest Xiaomi 12T, which packs a MediaTek Dimensity 8110-Ultra processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Both Xiaomi 12Ts come with a 6.67-inch 120Hz flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels and a 480Hz touch sampling rate for ultra-smooth interactions. The screens have maximum brightness ratings of 900 nits with integrated fingerprint scanners providing secure unlocking.
120W wired charging is backed by a power brick inside the box that is said to be able to take the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro’s internal 5.00mAh cell from 0-100% in less than 20 minutes. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging included with either model here.
On the back, the camera consists of a 200MP ISOCELL HP1 main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The large 1/1.22-inch sensor supports OIS, 8K video recording, and more, but it’s second only to the Moto X30 Pro. Some cuts have been made to the Xiaomi 12T, with the ISOCELL HM6 108MP sensor, 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and 2MP macro sensor. The selfie cameras are rated at 20MP.
Android 12 will be preinstalled with Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 interface on top. No word on the update commitment has been shared, but this likely matches the four-year update commitment made shortly before the Xiaomi 11T series launched in late 2021.
The Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro will go on sale officially from October 20 starting at £499 (~$565) and £699 (~$790) respectively. You will be able to pick up the black, silver and blue duo from select retailers.
