Google recently launched its latest foldable phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and the new model comes with several notable improvements in design, display, and AI technology. This product is said to offer a more optimized experience, while also competing strongly with competitors in the high-end foldable phone segment.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold sports a completely new design, different from its predecessor. The device is larger but lighter, which helps users feel comfortable holding it. The body is made of aluminum with a satin finish and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back, creating a premium and durable look. Despite being IPX8 water-resistant, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold still lacks dust resistance, which is a weakness to consider.
One of the biggest improvements on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the display. The 6.3-inch AMOLED outer display is wider, making it more convenient to use when folded. When opened, users will enjoy an 8-inch Super Actua Flex display with up to 2,700 nits of brightness, double the previous version, providing great viewing quality even in bright lighting conditions.
In terms of photography capabilities, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is equipped with a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. Both the inner and outer displays have 10MP selfie cameras. The device also inherits many of the smartphone photography features from the Pixel 9 series.
Google has integrated several advanced AI features into the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, most notably Gemini Live, which lets users chat naturally with AI without using launch commands. Features like Pixel Studio help create and edit photos on demand, and photography features like Add Me and Made You Look help enhance the photography experience.
In particular, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's AI can run directly on the device thanks to the LLM Gemini Nano built into the device's hardware, which helps with fast processing without connecting to the cloud. Additionally, users are also given one year of free use of the Google One AI Premium Plan, which includes Gemini's premium features.
With the latest Google Tensor G4 processor, 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold delivers powerful performance that meets all user needs. While the 4,650mAh battery capacity is slightly smaller than the previous version, it still supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging, ensuring continuous use.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is available in two colors: Obsidian and Porcelain. The starting price is $1,799 (around VND45 million) for the 256GB version and $1,999 (around VND50 million) for the 512GB version. The device will officially go on sale on September 4.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold promises to be one of the best options in the foldable phone segment in 2024 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold6 and smartphones from other brands. However, the high price and some limitations such as the small battery and poor dust resistance may be negative points for demanding users.
