Overwatch cross-play coming to PC and consoles, but there’s a catch

It's been just a little over five years since Overwatch launched - its fifth anniversary came at the end of May - and while a lot of fans are probably looking forward to the eventual arrival of Overwatch 2, today we learned that the first game is about to get a big update. Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch will soon be getting cross-play, which will allow players across PC, Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X to play with and against each other.

With the release date of Dark Alliance on the horizon, today Wizards of the Coast and Tuque Games released a gameplay overview trailer for the title. Valve has long been trying to get game developers and publishers to see Linux as a serious and profitable gaming platform and not simply because it loves the open source operating system. It basically wants games to be free from their reliance on Windows and Microsoft's development frameworks and, eventually, to have them available on its own Linux-based S000 OS. S000 OS and S000 Machines have largely failed but Valve seems to still be pushing for Linux support for Windows games and its latest attempt is to get NVIDIA's fancy DLSS technology to work on some of those titles.
