The Samsung Galaxy Watch Charging Cradle uses your own charger

Just a couple of weeks ago, we came across a detail-free listing of a new Galaxy Watch Charging Cradle on the Samsung website. Now, this cradle has been launched in the UK and is on sale for £20.

When the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro were released, a lot of users encountered one design flaw that prevented them from placing the Watch 5 down, against the wireless charger. Of course, this can be handled with a different tape – one without floppy memory.

Apparently to solve this problem, Samsung has developed a new charging station called “Galaxy Watch Charging Cradle”. Like many other watch chargers, this one allows you to place the Galaxy Watch on the charger farther from the surface, allowing the bands to hang free.

Now, the Charging Cradle appears to be live on Samsung’s UK site. While we didn’t try to buy, the “add to cart” button lights up and appears to let you complete the bed purchase.

While the price seems too good to be true, new details about how we originally expected the cot would make the £20 price tag seem realistic. Instead of the cradle being self-sufficient with its own powered wireless charging pad, users will have to insert their own charging tablet that comes with the Galaxy Watch. Although this is a small downside, it does mean that the new cradle works with these clocks:

  • Galaxy Watch Active 2
  • Galaxy Watch 3
  • Galaxy Watch 4
  • Galaxy Watch 5

It looks like one user on Reddit got some pre-production photos of the charger in action. There are some differences between what Samsung has listed on the site and what the post contains, although most of them remain the same. One major difference is the location of the cable cutout, with Samsung photos showing an exit from the back while the post shows a cutout in the corner.

For whatever reason, the Galaxy Watch Charging Cradle is not available in the US at the time of writing. The cradle list is shown directly on Samsung’s US website, although the page lacks details and a US dollar value, though a direct conversion would be worth about $23.

While the Charging Cradle doesn’t come with a built-in charging pad, the ability to fit your charging disk into the holder is a nice touch. For those looking for a more personalized and generally well-made charging stand, Samsung devices will be a perfect fit, even if you have to sacrifice your charging tablet.
