A few days ago, information appeared that the German company Helsing will supply 4,000 to Ukraine Advanced kamikaze drones. The media indicated that these could be HX-2 Karma drones, which are called “mini-Taurus” in expert circles, but according to new data, this is not true.
What is known
Spiegel reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive from Germany an improved version of the simpler and cheaper kamikaze drones AQ100 Bayonet from the American manufacturer Terminal Autonomy.
These will be wooden drones that visually resemble an airplane. Hellsing will equip them with an artificial intelligence system that will allow the drones to independently strike objects designated by the operator, which will render the enemy’s electronic warfare practically useless.
On the manufacturer’s website, the AQ 100 Bayonet drone is positioned as a “cheap loitering ammunition” capable of carrying 4.5 kg of explosives. The declared speed of the drone reaches 144 kilometers per hour, and its flight range reaches 150 kilometers.
These will be the first attack drones donated by Germany. Before that, Ukraine was only supplied with reconnaissance drones.
The total number of drones is known to be 4,000; The first batch will appear on the battlefield next December.
