Asus announced the ExpertBook P5 at IFA 2024, which it describes as the company's first Copilot Plus PC designed for work.
The Asus ExpertBook P5 is powered by Intel's recently announced Core Ultra Series 2 processor, which boosts mobile performance, efficiency, and of course, AI capabilities.
If you missed our explanation back in May when it was first announced, the “Copilot Plus PC” is Microsoft’s term for its latest breed of AI-powered Windows laptops.
Early models – like the Surface Laptop 7 – were built on the Snapdragon X architecture, but the recent unveiling of Intel's Core Ultra Series 2 means manufacturers can now go all out with a focus on productivity – hence devices like the Asus ExpertBook P5.
The new Intel chip powers the ExpertBook P5 with up to 48 NPU TOPS and a three-fold increase in AI performance over previous generations. Asus is putting that power to work in a suite of AI features it calls AI ExpertMeet, which can do things like automate meeting minutes, translate subtitles, and provide watermarks in conference calls.
Elsewhere, Asus ExpertGuardian offers a commercial BIOS, Windows 11 Secured-core PC technology, five years of BIOS support and driver updates, and a free one-year McAfee+ Premium membership—all of which your IT chief will surely appreciate.
In terms of hardware, the Asus ExpertBook P5 offers high-end specs. This includes a durable aluminum chassis, which gives it a distinct MacBook feel while weighing just 1.29kg. That’s much closer to the MacBook Air M3 (1.24kg) than the 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 (1.55kg).
It features a stunning 14-inch 2.5K display with a refresh rate of 144Hz.
The Asus ExpertBook P5 will be available to buy directly from the Asus eShop – and presumably from third-party retailers as well – from November, with prices starting at £999.99.
