Galaxy Note 21 cancellation rumors rise again

Galaxy Note 21 cancellation rumors rise again

There are always a number of rumors about Samsung products that refused to die. Most of those, like under-display cameras, revolve around features to be added or products to be launched. One undying rumor, however, is all about the death of one rather popular product. For years, Samsung has been believed to be retiring the Galaxy Note or at least the S Pen. We know that the latter is far from coming true yet but the launch of the Galaxy S21 Ultra has provided fodder once more to talk about the Galaxy Note 21's absence this year.

Galaxy A82 5G might bring back the flipping slide-out camera

Galaxy A82 5G might bring back the flipping slide-out camera

It almost feels like a distant dream or nightmare, depending on where you stand, but it wasn't really too long ago when smartphone makers played around with designs with a singular purpose in mind, banishing the inescapable top bezel. While most have now embraced the punch-hole cutout, there was a time when phones sported eccentric mechanisms like popup cameras and sliding displays. Samsung wasn't exactly immune to that trend and it might be making bringing back the past with the Galaxy A82 5G.

Galaxy S10 One UI 3.0 Android 11 update pulled due to bugs

Galaxy S10 One UI 3.0 Android 11 update pulled due to bugs

Samsung has been making good on its commitment to roll out major Android upgrades faster, and while it's still not as fast as most would wish, it's still a lot better than Samsung's old ways. That said, there would inevitably be some bumps along the way and, unfortunately, it seems that Galaxy S10 owners had the bad luck of running into them. No sooner had Samsung released Android 11 for these phones did users run into numerous and seemingly unrelated problems, forcing the company to put a halt to the rollout.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review – Lower price brings tougher decisions

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review – Lower price brings tougher decisions

Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra is more affordable than last year's flagship, has more cameras, and adds an S Pen: on paper, at least, what's not to love? Setting the bar for smartphones in 2021, the daddy of the currently three-strong Galaxy S21 family promises more of that monstrously effective Samsung recipe: heap on the features until there really is something for everyone. Still, for all its merits, it's difficult not to see the Galaxy S21 Ultra as the evolutionary pinnacle of a species set to be replaced.

Galaxy S21 Ultra teardown has some disappointing surprises

Galaxy S21 Ultra teardown has some disappointing surprises

iFixit might still have its hands full from a backlog of products to teardown but PBK Reviews, fortunately, lost no time in poking inside Samsung's latest and greatest. The Galaxy S21 proved to be a pleasant surprise in some ways, particularly for its modularity and the screen's relatively easier repairability. The YouTuber now takes the Galaxy S21 Ultra apart with some optimism that was, unfortunately, met with a bit of a disappointment.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 rugged tablet brings its pen and LTE to the US

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 rugged tablet brings its pen and LTE to the US

Samsung is bringing its newest rugged Android tablet to the US, and while the Galaxy Tab Active3 may not be as sleek as a Galaxy S21 Ultra, it's a lot more welcome on work sites and in warehouses. Announced last year, the toughened tablet meets not only IP68 dust and water resistance standards but MIL-STD-810H ruggedness ratings too, meaning it should be more resilient to drops, immersion, and more.

SmartThings integration with Nest, Android Auto starts rolling out

SmartThings integration with Nest, Android Auto starts rolling out

At its very early Unpacked 2021 event last week, Samsung didn't just announce a new Galaxy S21 smartphone, Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds, and Galaxy Smart Tag trackers. It also announced a collaboration that made sense but few probably expected would ever happen. Samsung revealed that it was nurturing a closer relationship with Google, even in areas where they have competing products, bridging the gap between Samsung's SmartThings IoT platform and Google's Nest-branded devices and Android Auto car platform.

Galaxy S21 5G teardown is relatively easy except for some parts

Galaxy S21 5G teardown is relatively easy except for some parts

Samsung put a hard line down between the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy S21 and its larger S21+ sibling. That's true not just for the features but even for the materials used, especially for the backplate. That potentially makes repairs or replacement easier and, as PBK Reviews found out, that was really just the beginning for a mostly uneventful first teardown of the based Galaxy S21 5G model.

Galaxy Buds Pro gets an update even before it launches

Galaxy Buds Pro gets an update even before it launches

All or at least eyes were on Samsung last week, unsurprisingly, especially on its new Galaxy S21 series with admittedly tempting price tags. Those weren't the only products the company announced, though, and the Galaxy Buds Pro definitely deserved just as much attention, especially for the value that it offers for its price. It's not perfect, of course, but fortunately, some of its warts can be easily addressed by software updates, just like the one that will be ready for new owners when they power up the buds for the first time.

Galaxy Fold One UI 3.0 Android 11 update starts rolling out

Galaxy Fold One UI 3.0 Android 11 update starts rolling out

Samsung has been rather quick with the Android 11 updates that were packaged with One UI 3.0, far better than its past performance. Of course, not all Galaxy phones are created equal and some less conventional phones might have required more work and testing to get the update right. Naturally, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 got the update first but now even the Z-less first foldable phone is finally getting One UI 3.0 and Android 11 in one go.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: The flagship battle

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. iPhone 12 Pro Max: The flagship battle

The two heavyweights of flagship smartphones – Samsung and Apple - are in for another blockbuster bout as the Korean smartphone maker just announced the S21 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event. This comes after the release of the Apple iPhone 12 series a couple of months ago. While the iPhone’s latest and greatest iPhone 12 Pro Max has already proved its substance, Samsung is here to spoil the party and take the laurels away.
