Steven Spielberg released his first music video on iPhone

iPhone cameras have evolved so much that it is not unusual to see directors use them to shoot music videos and even independent films. This time around, famous film director Steven Spielberg chose the iPhone to shoot a music video in partnership with singer-songwriter Marcus Mumford.

It was Spielberg’s first time directing a music video, and he did so with the help of his wife Kate Capshaw, who served as the clip’s producer and artistic director. They worked together to help Marcus Mumford, who was known as the lead singer of the band Mumford & Sons, with the release of his first single.

However, while some might expect a Hollywood-level production behind a Spielberg-directed and filmed music video, this is quite the opposite. Spielberg chose to shoot the entire clip in one take with an iPhone in his hands as he navigates a high school gymnasium in a wheelchair.

It’s unclear what iPhone model Spielberg used, but the shot stabilization is impressive. Another interesting detail is that the video was released with a black and white filter, which gives it a more dramatic effect.

as described Creative BlockThe entire video has a “DIY” aspect to it, which may encourage others to believe that anyone can shoot their music video on an iPhone. Details about how the music video was filmed were shared by Mumford on his site Twitter profile.

You can watch the full music video for Mumford’s new song “Cannibal” on YouTube. Although Spielberg produced the “Amazing Stories” show for Apple TV +, this music video was not produced in collaboration with Apple.

More Videos Taken on iPhone

In 2019, Apple and Selena Gomez teamed up to produce the music video for the song “Lose You to Love Me” filmed on the iPhone 11 Pro. A few months later, Apple promoted Lady Gaga’s Stupid Love music video, which was also filmed entirely on the iPhone 11 Pro.
