Someone figured out how to turn the Apple Watch Ultra into a watch designed for people who want to buy an expensive luxury watch but don’t plan on going into the mountains.
Apple continues to market the Apple Watch Ultra as the ultimate adventure watch. The company specifically describes hiking, running, and water sports as the best use cases that the rugged watch can handle on a level that regular Apple Watches can’t.
However, there are certainly a number of people who have been waiting for a premium Apple Watch like the Ultra… but have made it a fad. At least one jeweler seems to think so too because, as spotted by 9to5Mac, they took the Apple Watch Ultra and polished its matte finish to oblivion, replacing it with a titanium sheen that went so far as to remove the orange Action button.
You can watch the designer review the Apple Watch Ultra, which has been polished to a mirror, on YouTube Short below:
This watch started out as a new Apple Watch Ultra made of titanium that comes in a dull silver color. This was electrophoresed to remove the previous finish including the orange button color and then deeply polished to achieve a beautiful mirror finish.
Is this the low-level version of Ultra that people want?
While some people might want a premium Apple Watch made for fashion more than function, that’s definitely not what Apple is after with a rugged Apple Watch. Still, it’s great to see someone take a snapshot of what Apple released and turn it into something for a completely different audience.
The Apple Watch Ultra is made, at least for Apple, for adventurers. Those who climb mountains, run a high-speed marathon, and dive. Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, says the watch is designed for “users to push their boundaries with adventure, endurance, and exploration.”
“Inspired by explorers and athletes from around the world, we’ve created an entirely new class of Apple Watch designed for new and rugged environments – the most powerful and capable Apple Watch yet. Apple Watch Ultra is a versatile tool that empowers users to push their limits with adventure, endurance, and exploration.” .
If you really want a fully polished Apple Watch Ultra, it will run you around double the price at $1,500.
