Samsung foldable Android tablet rumored for 2023

As Android tablets get some love and foldable devices become more and more popular, rumors have it that Samsung is planning to release a foldable Android tablet sooner rather than later.

According to “lanzuk” on Naver’s website, Samsung plans to bring a foldable Android tablet to the market during the “first half” of 2023. The tablet will arrive alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series, which appears to debut with the Galaxy S23 series .

This new Android foldable tablet will be Samsung’s third foldable device form factor, after the Galaxy Fold-type first introduced in 2019 and Galaxy Z Flip-type first launched in 2020.

In early 2021, a rumor spread that Samsung was working on a “Galaxy Z Fold Tab” that was going to adopt a “dual-fold” form factor. The foldable screen will be twice the size of a CD when the two additional panels are closed, with a larger, wider canvas after the other panels are opened. It has been speculated that Flex Mode in this form factor could appear as a keyboard / kickstand.

Obviously, none of this has seen the light of day until now apart from Samsung’s presentation of the concepts. Samsung brought the exact “dual foldable” form factor into a working concept at CES 2022.

It has not yet been confirmed that this is how Samsung’s foldable Android tablet will hit the market, but it appears to be a good bet, as it is the most useful way to implement a foldable screen on a tablet that we can currently consider. Either way, it will definitely be interesting to see how things go if Samsung actually releases this device early next year.

Meanwhile, Samsung will officially unveil its next foldable smartphones with Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 on August 10th.
