If you've seen Samsung's Galaxy Watch Ultra and it looks familiar, you're probably not alone.
The new smartwatch, which represents Samsung's first rugged “Ultra” smartwatch, bears more than a passing resemblance to the Apple Watch Ultra and Ultra 2, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by Samsung's CEO, according to a new report.
According to Ajunews, Samsung CEO Lee Jae-yong is disappointed with how similar the new watch and the Buds 3 series, which are very similar to AirPods, are to Apple's current design.
Samsung CEO unhappy with company's 'Apple design theft'
The report says:
“This is a strict order,” Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who is known at Samsung Electronics for his gentle nature and usually does not get angry, recently issued a strict order to the employees of the MX division. [Samsung’s mobile division]”.”
“According to a source familiar with Samsung Electronics, personal action has been taken against some executives, including the head of MX Group.”
“Chairman Lee himself has stepped forward amid the controversy surrounding Apple’s design and quality rip-off of the Buds 3 and Galaxy Watch 7 series released last month. The current internal atmosphere is not very good.”
It will be interesting to see how Samsung will differentiate its devices from Apple's counterparts in the future, but for now, it seems that Jay Yong is not happy at all.
