Poco F6 Officially Announced with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, Plus More

Poco is trying to make a big splash in the mid-range phone market this year with the launch of the F6 and F6 Pro. As we have come to expect from the Xiaomi sub-brand, both phones offer great features at competitive prices.

The Poco F6 flaunts the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which sits just below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and focuses more on efficiency. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is built on a 4nm process with a 1+4+3 core configuration. There’s a single 3.0GHz ARM Cortex X4 processor, four performance cores (2.8GHz), and three efficiency cores (2.0GHz). This is different from the 1+5+2 in the 8 Gen 3, which trades one efficiency core for another performance core.

While the Poco F6 Pro uses last year's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor – which still delivers impressive levels of performance despite being a year older.

Because of this, the Poco F6 and F6 Pro are great options for a budget phone, but they should still offer excellent performance for most users. The base configurations are slightly different with the Poco F6 coming in 8/256GB and 12/512GB options. Meanwhile, the F6 Pro comes in 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and 16/1TB options for those who want a premium experience.

Regardless of which Poco F6 you choose, it features a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The F6 Pro takes the display to a higher level with a QHD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits, while the regular Poco F6 sticks to FHD+, which Xiaomi describes as “1.5K.” The F6 offers an impressive 2,400 nits of brightness.

While both phones feature a 50MP Sony LYT 600 primary sensor with OIS for taking clear photos and videos, there are some minor differences. The F6 Pro also features a 50MP primary sensor; however, it is larger and likely to offer improved low-light performance. Both phones include a new portrait mode and a front-facing camera capable of taking selfies.

The 50MP main sensor is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, but the Poco F6 Pro comes with an additional 2MP macro camera to complete the triple-camera system. The Poco F6 has a 20MP selfie camera, while the Poco F6 Pro has a 16MP front-facing camera system. While these aren’t exactly flagship-level systems, we’re sure the resulting images will be impressive, given their price.

You won’t have to worry about running out of battery in the middle of the day with the Poco F6. Both pack a large 5,000mAh battery, and the F6 Pro features faster 120W charging, allowing you to top up the phone in just 19 minutes, according to Poco. The F6 offers 90W fast charging. There’s no mention of wireless charging on the Poco F6 Pro this time around, something that was finally added to the Poco F5 series last year.

However, the price difference between the two models could be a deciding factor. If you’re a gamer or a budget-conscious user who prioritizes good performance and a great display over the latest technology, the F6 could be the way to go. Ultimately, both Poco F6 models offer flagship-level features at a mid-range price, making them strong contenders in today’s competitive smartphone market.

The Poco F6 will start at $379 for the 8/256GB model and $429 for the 12/512GB model. For a limited time, early bird prices are down to $339 and $379. As for the Poco F6 Pro, it starts at $499 for the 12/256GB model, $549 for the 12/512GB model, and $629 for the 16/1TB model. Early bird prices are down to $449, $499, and $579, respectively.
