OtterBox is ramping up the benefits it offers with its screen protectors today. After bypassing the lifetime warranty to replace broken iPhone screen protectors and cases, the company will now cover up to an additional $150 to replace your iPhone screen if it breaks while using the Amplify or Alpha OtterBox screen protectors.
The updated OtterBox Protection Program was launched today with a valuable new addition being iPhone screen replacement coverage. OtterBox shared the details in a press release:
“We know that a cracked phone screen can be more than just a small setback,” said OtterBox CEO Jim Park. “OtterBox strives to keep you connected to the people, places, and moments that matter most. The robust Lifetime Limited Warranty already covers your case and screen protector, and OtterBox Protection extends that protection to your device’s screen as well.”
New iPhone screen replacement coverage is available for most models and comes with Amplify and Alpha screen protectors.
OtterBox Protection Program Details
- Pay up to $150 for screen repair/replacement
- Valid up to 12 months after purchase
- Easily activate and track coverage, and file a claim with the OtterProtect app
- Eligible Amplify and Alpha screen protectors with new coverage range $39.95 to $54.95
- Make sure to choose “Antimicrobial + OtterBox Protection Program” for the product option at checkout
Pricing depends on iPhone features and screen protector (standard, blue light, privacy, glare, or antimicrobial).
This is a great addition to OtterBox screen protectors and I think it definitely makes them a more compelling option in a crowded market of cheap accessories.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that with recent iPhone screen replacements ranging from $199 to $329 at full cost, OtterBox’s $150 coverage won’t cover the entire bill. So you may not want to skip AppleCare or other insurance.
But for those who don’t mind being in trouble for little cost, OtterBox Protection is definitely an affordable option to get both physical protection and partial insurance for less than the cost of traditional insurance or AppleCare.
