Android smartphones are funny old business. You can have two different looking phones and you never realize you are using the same phone from the same company.
I am of course talking about the major brands and their affiliates. In this case, I am referring to the fact that Oppo owns OnePlus. On paper, the Oppo Find X5 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro It is the equivalent of Spider-Man’s reference to the Spider-Man meme.
As you’ll find in this review, all my hands-on time will be devoted to answering two simple questions: Does the Oppo Find X5 Pro sufficiently distinguish itself from the OnePlus 10 Pro, and is it better for it?
Oppo Find X5 Pro price and configurations
The Oppo Find X5 Pro (Opens in a new tab) Not official in the US, but you can pick it up in the UK for £1,049 in black or white. That translates to roughly $1,290, which is pretty expensive for a phone like this.
For context, if you buy a file OnePlus 10 Pro (Opens in a new tab) With the same RAM and storage (12GB + 256GB), you’re spending £899.
Oppo Find X5 Pro تصميم design
It’s rare for me to describe the phone’s design as ‘unique’, but I’ll make an exception for the Oppo Find X5 Pro (and the upcoming upcoming one). none phone (1)). Put all the text on the back, the Find X5 Pro is great.
In the hand, it feels familiar — like any tile phone I’ve picked up in the past. At 6.4 x 2.9 x 0.3 inches and weighing 6.8 ounces, it’s exactly the same size as the OnePlus 10 Pro, but just 0.3 ounces lighter.
The one-piece ceramic aesthetic on the back seamlessly flows into the camera bump, as the metal rod transitions seamlessly into the front of the gorilla glass and the curvature of it all is an innovative approach to giving the back a distinct and unique character.
If I’m going to choose between this and the 10 Pro’s flat/frosted frosted glass, I’d prefer the Find X5 Pro, although its glossy rear is a fingerprint magnet. The size and curvature perfectly fit the hand and exude luxury and luxury.
Oppo Find X5 Pro . screen
Oppo Find X5 Pro is equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with HDR 10+ and up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness. Yes, that’s just like the OnePlus 10 Pro, and it’s still pretty cool to look at.
Colors pop from the screen and the 1440 x 3216 pixel resolution ensures everything is crisp with buttery smooth fluidity thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. In addition, the second-generation LTPO technology we saw on the 10 Pro makes the panel more battery friendly, as it can lower the refresh rate to 1 Hz when looking at a still image.
The end result is gorgeous color accuracy that’s a pleasure to watch and do things with. Watch Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madness The trailer really highlights HDR and contrast ratio, spells from the screen glow with glossiness and every scene has impressive depth.
Oppo Find X5 Pro audio
The lack of a headphone jack is disappointing, but not surprising. However, the onboard stereo speakers are capable of pumping sound deep enough for casual listening on the go. Granted, they’re small (they’re phone speakers after all), but they’re fine for video calls and TikTok scrolling.
The Four Year Strong wrapper for ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ looks great, accentuating the fine details in the quiet parts well, while handling the onslaught of loud squawks without distortion.
Performance of Oppo Find X5 Pro
The Oppo Find X5 Pro packs some serious power with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and up to 12GB of RAM. When put to the test on Geekbench 5, it received a multi-core score of 3,426, which is just a hair behind the identically-specified OnePlus 10 Pro (3,480), but naturally lags behind the iPhone 13 (A15 Bionic, 4,436).
As for graphics, this powerful hardware held its own in 3DMark’s WildLife test with a perfect 60 fps – beating the iPhone 13 (55.9 fps) and matching the 10 Pro.
Of course, those numbers only tell half the story, because it’s all about how this translates into everyday use. I didn’t find a single second of stuttering no matter what I threw in this phone. Games like Real Racing 3 and Call Of Duty: Mobile look great and perform great here, while multitasking between the games mentioned, Adobe Photoshop mobile, Instagram, and more didn’t slow things down at all.
It should be noted that in the WildLife Stress test and under more intense processor loads, the phone gets very hot on the back. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t force apps to close due to overheating issues like Xiaomi 12but you can really feel it for the camera bump.
If you are concerned about any potential heat throttling and want peak gaming performance, you might look towards Red Magic 7 Pro. But most of you will be more than happy with the performance shown here.
Oppo Find X5 Pro battery life and charging
With a 5,000mAh battery inside, the Oppo Find X5 Pro matches the 10 Pro once again, so while we don’t have official results for the X5 Pro’s battery test, it’s fair to assume you’ll get pretty close to the 12hrs 28min hitting OnePlus mark. Translation: Powerful, worry-free battery life for a whole day.
A typical day of use for me (including a few hours of surfing the web, listening to podcasts and spotify All day long, use a lot of social media, photography, gaming and watching Youtube videos in the evening) I left 20-25% of the battery in the evening before going to bed.
In addition, fast 80W wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging ensure that you can charge it quickly in almost all situations. I was able to eat this whole backup in the time it took to drink a couple of Estrellas and stuff my face with tapas in Barcelona – about 45 minutes.
Oppo Find X5 Pro cameras
Oppo benefits from OnePlus’ integration with a wide range of Hasselblad color calibration in the 50MP main shooter with f/1.7 aperture, 13MP telephoto (2x zoom) with f/2.4 and 50MP 110° ultra-wide with f/2.2.
Flip the camera forward and you’ll find a 32MP selfie snapper with f/2.4 aperture, which produces decent detail and a healthy amount of color without looking over-processing (provided you don’t turn on any of the AI filter options).
As for the back, the main shooter with a hexagonal lens produces some great photos. The color science looks intriguing at first sight – the same feeling that the OnePlus 10 Pro has for being well-balanced yet super vibrant at the same time.
It takes a while to get used to and there are moments when you can sneak into hyper-reality, but 99% of the time, you get some really cool, dramatic shots in all lighting conditions without any seriously noticeable blurring.
Meanwhile, the wide range offers a lot more detail than previous Oppo phones, but why they went at 110 instead of 150 from the 10 Pro will baffle me for several days to come. Finally, the 2X optical zoom results in some blur, but not so much that it ruins any remote detail you’re trying to get.
For video shooting, capturing up to 4K video is great (although it’s less than the 8K capabilities of the OnePlus 10 Pro), and this is backed by a wealth of creative features including Ultra HDR support, binaural audio, and optical image stabilization for a picture Vibration-free image quality.
Overall, you’ll struggle to tell the difference between OnePlus’ main shooter and that of the Find X5 Pro, but the 10 Pro’s widely expanded feature set makes it a more feature-complete option.
Oppo Find X5 Pro ColorOS 12.1.2.0 Update
ColorOS from Oppo above Android 12 Fast, clean and easy to use most of the time. There are even some neat handy features like a swipe down in Control Center, air gestures that allow you to interact with the phone in some ways without even touching it (great while cooking), a renewed aesthetic that adds a subtle 3D look to everything and a set Comprehensive customization.
But with a fair amount of bloatware, a lack of work-life balancing tools, and a much-favoured, stocky Oxygen OS rack, the OnePlus 10 Pro is a lot more user-friendly.
They both receive the same software support, though: 3 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates. This is the right amount of time that should get you to the next upgrade.
minimum
The Oppo Find X5 Pro is the right phone in the right place at the wrong time.
I’m a huge fan of the design aesthetics, the screen is gorgeous and the interiors lead to smooth navigating no matter the number of processor-intensive applications.
However, the OnePlus 10 Pro offers near-identical specifications and a better software experience, all at a lower price. Why not choose 10 Pro?
If a 10 Pro isn’t around, I would highly recommend the X5 Pro as one of the best Android phones you can get right now. But it is not, and Oppo remains the flagship under its subsidiary.
