It’s a familiar story now. Just like the Xbox and PlayStation, Nintendo is also experiencing supply issues and component shortages. This may help explain why Nikkei’s recent report, cited by Bloomberg gaming and tech writer Takashi Mochizuki, said there will be no new hardware releases this fiscal year. We cannot say that this is a big surprise. All tech giants are struggling with this problem right now.
Mochizuki’s tweet reads, “There will be no new Nintendo hardware this fiscal year, which ends in March 2023. It’s not immediately clear if this part of the article was from Nikkei’s own reporting or what the Nintendo chief said, who interviewed Nikkei for the story.” .”
There have been many Nintendo fans speculating that a Switch “Pro” might be released soon. Well, this goes against the rumor. It looks like this won’t happen any time soon. Anyway, Nintendo seems to be doing just fine with the hardware they have. After all, the Switch recently exceeded 111 million units sold, however, overall sales fell by 22.9%. So maybe Nintendo will save any hardware announcements for after the fiscal year ends. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
