Metaverse Quest 2 VR Headset Price

Facebook this week reported its first ever drop in revenue, a drop in revenue for the second quarter, and also predicted that growth in the third quarter could drop further. To help boost its profits and revenue, Facebook or rather Meta has also announced that it will increase the price of the Quest 2 virtual reality headset by $100 next month.

Facebook recently changed its name to Meta and Zuckerberg was investing heavily in creating his dream Metaverse that would allow him to monetize virtual reality environments, games and experiences. It is now already more expensive to enjoy the Metaverse with the Meta Quest 2 BR headset which costs $400 and $500 for the 128GB and 256GB versions respectively. Meta explains more about the price hike.

Metaverse Quest 2 price increase

“The momentum of virtual reality is undeniable. From gaming and productivity to fitness and beyond, virtual reality is becoming increasingly popular as it positively impacts the ways we work, play and connect with one another. People have spent over a billion dollars on Meta Quest apps, helping in supporting the work of developers as they deliver the games and experiences that make virtual reality great.”

Meanwhile, the costs of manufacturing and shipping our products have gone up. By adjusting the price of Quest 2, we can continue to grow our investment in ground-breaking research and new product development that pushes the virtual reality industry to new heights. Even with these price changes, the Meta Quest 2 is still the most affordable VR headset with comparable feature on the market. And each headset continues to improve after purchase. From hand tracking and Air Link improvements to Meta Horizon Home, we’re constantly adding new features to make virtual reality more social, intuitive, and immersive than ever before. We will continue to regularly ship out exciting new software updates to improve our products. “

“Now is the time for us to redouble our efforts to drive the state of the art forward. We will continue to work alongside the developers, early adopters and passionate fans who play and build for virtual reality every day, and we can’t wait to continue sharing the work we do at Reality Labs on the road to the metaverse.” Keep an eye on Tech at Meta and this blog to find out what’s new.
