Lexus has unveiled a new hybrid SUV, the Lexus RX 450h+ Hybrid, and the vehicle comes with an all-electric range of 42 miles.
The new Lexus RX 450h+ Hybrid comes with 304 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time of just 6.5 seconds.
The RX 450h+’s plug-in hybrid engine gives you the freedom to take long, uninterrupted rides, along with the benefits of lower emissions, strong fuel economy, and the extended capability of all-electric driving. It’s just a combination of qualities that suit today’s big SUV customers. Performance data shows what the car can achieve: 25 g/km CO22 emissions, fuel consumption of 235.4 mpg and an EV range of 42 miles (WLTP combined cycle numbers). The powertrain output of 304 hp/227 kW means performance is fast, covering 0-62 mph in 6.5 seconds.
These numbers only tell part of the story. What sets the RX 450h+ apart from its competitors is what happens when the hybrid battery runs out of charge. In most other plug-in hybrids, the car defaults to its own gasoline engine, which means higher emissions and lower fuel economy until it can be connected to a power source for recharging. In Lexus, the car smoothly switches to a performance hybrid electric, so that the battery is recharged while driving and a high level of efficiency is maintained.
