iContact eye line webcam

Making eye contact when participating in video calls is very difficult if your webcam is at the top of your laptop or desktop screen. iContact is a new eye-line webcam designed to provide the ability to interact with conference call participants.

Designed by a professional video director, the iContact Camera features a simple stand that allows you to quickly set up and remove the camera from the center of the screen. Designed for any screen thickness, the mounting system features an adjustable clip and USB-C connection. Early pledges are now available for the new project from around $99 or £89 (According to current exchange rates)They’re offering a massive discount of nearly 20% off the retail price, while Kickstarter crowdfunding is underway.

“My name is Stacey Nemo. For most of my career, I’ve been a video director. With video, it’s essential to capture non-verbal connections that keep us mentally and emotionally engaged with the story. With the camera on top of the screen, there’s a cut-off in most visual communication cues. When you think you’re making eye contact, It looks like you’re looking down. If you look at the camera, it looks like you’re making eye contact, but you really don’t see it at all. This makes the whole call look unnatural. As your eyes wander from camera to person, it’s hard to focus, and you end up looking nervous. And distracted.”

Assuming that the iContact crowdfunding campaign successfully raises the pledge target and that project completion progresses smoothly, worldwide shipping is expected sometime around December 2022. To learn more about the iContact eye line webcam project, watch the promotional video below.

“The contact camera adapts easily to most computer screens and does not require additional software. I wanted to provide better visual results and get rid of additional lighting equipment, so I chose a camera with high light sensitivity and a diagonal field of view close to the way the human eye is designed.”
