House of the Dragon fully enters its stride after four episodes. We’ve already gone through some time jumps, along with betrayals, fights, deaths, births, the odd bit of nudity, and the call of incest. Looks like the spirit of Game of Thrones is still alive.
Set 200 years before the events depicted in Game of Thrones, this Targaryen family drama is about the succession of King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and it’s fair to say things are getting heated up with various relatives and all the vultures. Factions seeking to take advantage of who finally sat on the Iron Throne.
The heir to the throne of King Viserys is named after his daughter Rhaenyra (Emma Darcy). This is controversial for several reasons. First, there has never been a queen. The king also has another son who is younger than his daughter’s former best friend and his new wife no less. The rude rogue King of his brother Damon (Matt Smith) is far from happy about it.
The main houses (the Lannisters here are actually Arsole) either want to see their relatives marry Rhaenyra or replace them with an heir. For her part, she does not want to marry any of them. She has been taken away by the kingdom’s knight, keeper and protector, but she also has a little for her uncle as well. Oh those Targaryens! He only leads her astray to ruin her reputation, cunning.
The end of Episode 4 saw Reinera perform a blow on her part, convincing her father to get rid of the hand of the King, his father-in-law. We’re moving on to Episode 5. Read on to find out how to watch House of the Dragon Episode 5 on your best TV at home.
