Google releases Pixel 7 and 7 Pro factory images

With the launch of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro today, Google has released Android 13 factory images for customers who have already received the phones.

There are three designs for each phone, though only one is labeled (for JP companies). It is unclear which of the remaining two is universal. Our unlocked US machines run on the .31.

With these images, users can restore a software damaged Pixel 7 or 7 Pro to the original factory firmware. Google says it’s “usually easier and safer to upload the full OTA image instead,” which is also available today.

Compared to A series phones, there is no gap in the build and you will get the October security patch. However, the Google Play system update – which reverted to the old user interface a few weeks ago – is still on July 1, 2022, leading to a Security Center warning.

Finally, Google’s list of factory images provides additional/official confirmation that the Pixel 7 is codenamed “panther” and “cheetah” is the 7 Pro.
