Galaxy Watch 3 update brings new watch faces and more

While Samsung has moved to Wear OS for its smartwatch needs, the company hasn’t finished using Tizen wearables just yet. Galaxy Watch 3 now gets an update with new watch faces and health improvements.

The latest Samsung update is now rolling out for the Galaxy Watch 3 (SM-R840), and it has the build number R840XXU1DVH4.

what’s new?

The first major change here is that Samsung has added two new official watch face options for the Galaxy Watch 3 with this update. “Pro analog” and “Gradient number” will appear along with other official Samsung watch faces. These are two sides of the Galaxy Watch 5 series, with the “Pro analog” image below as the default face on the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

Samsung previously announced that these new watch faces will also be coming to the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

Apart from that, this Galaxy Watch 3 update also brings some new improvements to Samsung Health.

Users should find that the Daily Activity Indicator syncs better data from your phone, and snoring detection is now supported. This last feature works by using your phone’s microphone in conjunction with the watch’s sensors while you sleep to capture snoring recordings. Samsung Wear OS smartwatches also support this feature, although the Galaxy Watch 5 can pick up audio from the watch itself as well.

As mentioned, this update is rolling out now and will be available to Galaxy Watch 3 owners soon if it isn’t already. The Galaxy Watch 3 should continue to get software upgrades for at least the next year or so.
