Connection drops by interrupting listening sessions for some AirPods Pro 2 users


Apple unveiled the AirPods Pro 2 during its presentation far It happened earlier this month. Its launch coincided with the launch of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and Apple Watch Series 8. For those who are not familiar with these earbuds, the 2022 version offers many improvements that the first generation model lacked. This includes the Find My Speaker feature built into the case, touch volume controls on the stems of AirPods, more powerful active noise cancellation (ANC), and more. It is true that these additions may not tempt new first-generation adopters to upgrade. However, users who have owned their units for years may be dealing with battery issues at this point. This makes AirPods Pro 2 an exciting upgrade that includes useful offerings. Though, you may want to avoid buying a second generation unit for now. Some users have reported random connection drops while using AirPods Pro 2. It is wise to wait for Apple to address this issue.

AirPods Pro 2 connection problems

So you may experience annoying interruptions while enjoying your favorite TV series or music playlists. The earbuds still show as connected, but no sound is playing through them. Some users of the first generation model have reported similar issues in the past. Three years after the release of the original AirPods Pro, it seems that Apple has not yet dealt with these connectivity issues.

It kept disconnecting my iPhone randomly all day. Sometimes it also shows that they are connected but the sound is not coming on so I will have to reconnect them. I hope this is just a software issue.

I have connection problems as well. Similar to others it sometimes shows connected to my iPhone in settings but no audio playback through AirPods only through iPhone no AirPods showing in drop shadow.

At the moment, we still don’t know how prevalent this bug is. We certainly hope it’s a software bug that Apple will fix in a future update — rather than a hardware defect that could justify a product recall. If your AirPods Pro 2 are affected, you can unplug them from your iPhone or iPad and then reconnect them – as a temporary solution.
