Cheaper Chromecast with Google TV to launch on October 6 – report

Google plans to launch a more affordable version of Chromecast with the Google TV streaming device, possibly as soon as the Pixel 7 launches on October 6.

According to a report by German tech website WinFuture, the long-rumored Chromecast HD is now imminent, with stock already showing up at retailers.

A lower-end streaming device with no 4K HDR capabilities means a cheaper price point. It will be available for €40, the report says, which is a huge discount on the 69.99 that Google currently orders for the current 4K streaming device.

Essentially, it could rival devices like the Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite and might be ideal for those who haven’t yet upgraded to a 4K TV or want an additional streaming device for their secondary TV in the living room or bedroom, for example.

The original Chromecast with Google TV – which recently received a “4K” update in preparation for the upcoming HD addition – has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from Trusted Reviews When it arrived two years ago.

Our reviewer wrote: “Chromecast with Google TV is a great streaming tool and an ideal choice for anyone embedded in the Google ecosystem. It delivers the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from a streaming player including 4K/60fps streaming and Dolby Vision/Atmos support. “

Google promised to reveal the latest devices from its hardware family during the Made by Google event on October 6.

The flagship will be the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, while the Pixel Watch is also a potential show stealer. We’re also likely to see new Nest products, including the doorbell that supports 24/7 recording and the Nest Wi-Fi with WiFi 6 support, according to a report from 9to5Google on Tuesday.
