BSNL 4G and 5G launch schedule confirmed by CMD PK Purwar

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will soon launch 4G networks in India. Earlier, there were reports that BSNL would delay the launch of 4G in the country until 2023 due to equipment procurement issues. But now, PTI Report citing BSNL CMD (Chairman and Managing Director), PK Purwar, the state telecom operator, will start rolling out 4G from November 2022. After that, the telecom will also launch 5G services on August 15, 2023. As per the report This will be BSNL’s first 4G implementation (using local technology).

The C-DoT (Information Technology Development Center) consortium, which includes TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), is working alongside BSNL to help state-run telecoms deploy 4G locally as soon as possible. As for 5G, CMD has reaffirmed what Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnau said regarding the rollout of BSNL 5G – August 15, 2023.

Purwar was speaking at the India Mobile Conference (IMC) 2022, which was held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. He also talked about digital inclusion and the need to link the unconnected to digital technologies. The report states that Purwar talks about India as having one of the lowest average revenue per user (ARPU) and is looking for if it is sustainable.

Purwar questioned whether the current level of ARPU is sustainable in India and how it would be possible for telecoms companies to drive investments with the existing ARPU. The PTI report quoted Purwar as saying, “We need to balance these things.”

The ARPU of BSNL should go up once the carrier can launch 4G services. C-DoT has already launched the original 5G core in the country. Thus, the launch of BSNL 5G could be possible once beta tests are confirmed. If you want to read about 5G pilots from BSNL and everything.
