Apple today called on its suppliers to take new steps to decarbonize and tackle greenhouse gas emissions.


In a press release, Apple said it will evaluate the work of its manufacturing partners on a regular basis to encourage them to decarbonize their Apple-related operations and use 100 percent renewable energy, tracking and reviewing progress annually. She added that Apple will specifically partner with suppliers who are “acting urgently and making tangible progress toward decarbonization,” and encourage manufacturers to tackle their own greenhouse gas emissions beyond their Apple production, providing suppliers with a range of free and live e-learning resources. Apple itself has been carbon neutral in all of its corporate operations since 2020, but it has a long-term goal to be carbon neutral across the entire global supply chain and lifecycle of every product by 2030. Apple also announced new initiatives designed to help decarbonize the global economy and promote new climate-focused solutions, including investments to build large-scale solar and wind facilities in Europe, partnerships to support companies transitioning to clean energy, and take back fund projects to boost nature.
