Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers have a new tool in their arsenal to determine if a customer’s iPhone unexpectedly restarts.

When a customer with an iPhone 11 or later reports that their device has restarted unexpectedly, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers can run a new System Stability diagnostic tool, which will evaluate device analytics logs to determine if there have been multiple unexpected restarts during the past 14 days.

If the diagnosis determines that unexpected restarts are occurring, Apple advises technicians to proceed with hardware repair, according to an internal memo obtained by Apple. Mac rumors. If the diagnosis is successful, Apple advises technicians to direct the customer to a new support document with tips for hardware and software troubleshooting.

A new diagnostic tool provides Apple technicians with a faster way to determine if a customer’s iPhone is restarting unexpectedly compared to existing methods, such as restoring the device or manually reviewing analytics logs for kernel panics.

The new “System Stability” diagnostic kit is part of the Apple Service Toolkit 2.
