Android 13 has arrived on the Samsung Galaxy S22

Samsung is now rolling out Android 13 update for its latest Galaxy S22 series of smartphones.

The update, which includes updating the One UI 5.0 interface on top of Android 13, has started rolling out European versions of devices running on Samsung’s own Exynos chipset.

This includes the UK version of the Galaxy S22, which runs on the Exynos 2200 processor, rather than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the US version.

Various reports from users on social media show that Brits are among those receiving the update, and SamMobile even lists the UK as part of the launch. You can check by heading to Settings > Software update and clicking Download and install if an update is available.

To celebrate the release, Samsung released a video introducing One UI 5.0, claiming that it will “enable you to customize your device, boost productivity, and enjoy amazing experiences across devices and platforms.”

The video highlights the new custom lock screens, which could match what Apple introduced in iOS 16. There’s also the ability to use a combination of recent photos and videos for the lock screen background.

There are also some Android 13 Material You features that enable the main interface colors to match the colors in the background. There are new stackable widgets and new permission dashboards to keep you out of the eyes of app developers and trackers.

Samsung is also introducing Watch Face Studio which will empower users of its Galaxy Watch range and take personalization to new levels. There are new modes and actions to keep your day on track, as well as a new multitasking bar for larger screens like the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

The launch of Android 13 / One UI 5.0 comes two months after Google launched the new operating system for its Pixel devices.
